Photography is for me a form of expression. I hope that the images that I make, in some way, communicate the feeling that I was experiencing at that particular time. One of the things that I enjoy the most is the sense of connection that comes with others, when the images bring to mind memories of their own past experiences.
I think that the one element that contributes more than any other in communicating feeling is light. By using available or natural light I hope to retain the realism of the subject being presented whether it be a ray of light through the trees or shadows of a morning fog.
Being raised on a farm in Oldcastle, Ontario has left me with a connection to rural life that I have never separated from.
The biggest influences to my work likely dates back to the days of following my grandfather around the farm, and spending countless hours in the woods surrounding the gravel pit ponds. Having a professional photographer as a father made the capturing of images part of my daily life. |

Our family farm, and those of our neighbors are now home to factories, buildings and parking lots. I suppose that this too, is one of the reasons that I am passionate about capturing things that can so easily disappear, and the reminders of days that are gone.
Photography provides endless possibilities in subject matter and creativity. Whle I am still connected with my roots, I am also excited about some new projects involving people, urban settings and abstract forms.
I hope that you enjoy the images on my web site and would be pleased to have you attend one of my shows.
As well, if you are interested in informal portraits, or in creating images of cherished places and events, please consider contacting me. Images made in familiar comfortable settings tend to have a much different feeling. You never know, I might even bring The Portrait Chair.
